India’s Silicon Valley is certainly one of the most frequented and highly sought-after mega cities in the world. Its popularity as a business and tourist destination is exceptional and the beautiful weather that it is blessed with adds to the amazing reputation.

The crowded streets and growing traffic can get a bit overwhelming at times though. Thankfully, Bangalore has a host of options in the form of weekend getaways which can be easily accessed by booking Bangalore outstation cabs.

The following places are perfect for relaxation and will help you to come back refreshed and rejuvenated, ready to face the world with confidence.

Savanadurga

Savanadurga

If you are keen for a not-too-tiring drive, then Savanadurga, located only 50 kilometres away from the hustle and bustle of Bangalore, should be at the top of your list. Its mesmerizing twin peaks, Billigudda and Karigudda, are popular with trekking enthusiasts. They are amongst the largest monoliths in Asia and provide a lovely view of the surrounding areas. Replete with an old fort, a calm and relaxing atmosphere awaits all those who climb to the top.

Skandagiri

Skandagiri

Another popular destination for trekking but for the midnight adventure kind, Skandagiri is short and crisp two-hour drive from Bangalore, via the NH7 route. If trekking with the stars and moonlight for company is your idea of a holiday, then you are certainly in the right place.

Also known as Kalavara Durga for the mountain fortress it houses, Skandagiri is at a height of 1350 metres from sea level, which is the reason for its chilly, pleasant weather.

Hogennakkal

This destination in Dharmapuri received the moniker of the “Indian Niagara Falls” due to the resplendent waterfall on the Kaveri river, which is one of the oldest in South East Asia. These pristine white falls are about 180 kilometres away from Bangalore and the waters are rumoured to have medicinal properties.

Don’t miss the boat ride in the local boat “Teppa” during your visit there.

Lepakshi

Take the NH44 from Bangalore for a two-hour drive and reach the tiny village of Lepakshi, which is a centre of art and architecture. This place was once at the pinnacle of the Vijayanagar Empire, the prime attraction here is the Lepakshi temple, built in the year 1530.

Spend time checking out the murals and frescoes and gaze at the unique hanging pillars.

Mysore

Located at a distance of 150 kilometres from Bangalore, the enchanting city of Mysore is a preferred destination for those who love architectural marvels. The Mysore Palace is one such place, where one can spend hours admiring the delicate craftsmanship of the bygone era.

Check into Mysore Zoo and spend some time relaxing in Mother Nature’s bounty. Get a bird’s eye-view from Chamundi Hills, which is also home to many serene temples. The easy availability of Bangalore to Mysore cabs makes it a convenient weekend destination for urban travellers.

With such interesting weekend choices available for the tourists and locals of Bangalore, it is truly a wonder how one can let even a single weekend go by without planning a trip with friends and family.
