Remote work has definitely changed the way people work.
More and more people are now working outside of offices and not getting bound by the 9 to 5 work schedule.
With recent technology, collaboration has become much easier and has grown on a global scale. It has now been easier than ever to communicate with someone from the other side of the world.
Hence, the rise of the remote workers.
We are now seeing people work from coffee shops, co-working spaces and their homes. Seeing the convenience of this setup, remote working is something that definitely gets people excited.
So, we asked “are remote workers really happier than office employees?”
Here is what we found.
TINYpulse, which is an employee engagement company surveyed 509 remote workers in the United States. They were asked about their experiences in the workplace and these results were compared with 200,000 other employees from different work arrangements.
Here are some interesting results from the study:
Remote Workers Enjoy The Freedom
The biggest reason why employees want to work remotely is because of the freedom it gives them to work anywhere they want and anytime they want. Next to that is because of the flexibility of time it gives them to accommodate their family’s needs.
Happy Employees Love Working Everyday
That’s right. Though that may sound counter productive, the happiest employees prefer working seven times a week but shorter hours. Not a lot of people prefer they typical workweek (Monday to Friday, 9 to 5) anymore.
The Happiest Employees are not the Highest Earning Employees
More salary and compensation is good. But, it turns out that there is a sweet spot for employees to maintain their satisfaction level at work. It is at the $75,000 to $99,999 range. Higher than that, the happiness and satisfaction would gradually decline. Probably because of stress and security reasons.
It’s a huge survey. But, Time Doctor took out the interesting results and compiled them into one easy to digest infographic about remote workers. Check out the rest of the results below.
