Facebook knows how to Facebook. That was the shocking result of a study by Expion that examined how eight social networks — Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, StumbleUpon, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Foursquare, and Twitter— engaged with their Facebook fans from Jan. 1 through July 31.
Other findings from social media management company Expion included:

  • The eight social networks profiled averaged 657 comments and likes per post, but the range was large, with Facebook coming in at more than 115,000, while LinkedIn averaged just 64.
  • The eight social networks averaged 32 posts per month on their Facebook pages, with StumbleUpon topping the list, at 902, while Facebook itself averaged just six.
  • LinkedIn fans were the most active, at 3.6 percent, while Twitter and Facebook came in at the bottom of this list, at 0.1 percent.
